Review: Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side

Title: Jessicas guide to dating on the dark side.

Genre: Young adult/ Supernautral.

Author: Beth Fantaskey.

Publishers: Harcourt.

Summary: The undead can really screw up your senior year ... Marrying a vampire definitely doesn’t fit into Jessica Packwood’s senior year “get-a-life” plan. But then a bizarre (and incredibly hot) new exchange student named Lucius Vladescu shows up, claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by birth—and he’s her long-lost fiancĂ©. Armed with newfound confidence and a copy of Growing Up Undead: A Teen Vampire’s Guide to Dating, Health, and Emotions, Jessica makes a dramatic transition from average American teenager to glam European vampire princess. But when a devious cheerleader sets her sights on Lucius, Jess finds herself fighting to win back her wayward prince, stop a global vampire war—and save Lucius’s soul from eternal destruction.

Review: So this book has been out a while now, a few years maybe? My question to myself is why didn't I read this sooner. Beth Fantaskey takes on brilliant theme with vampiries and makes it very believable. I am terrible with most supernautral/paranormal books I read because I find them so hard to be real and it sets such high standards for me. But Beth did such a great job. That she didn't make it anything twlight copying. The place gets straight in their with Lucius and Jess meeting on like the first pages. And I loved that, it wasn't slow she got straight into the story with how Jessica learns she is a vampire princess and that she must marry Lucius - who from the day she meets is creeped out by. Of course the beginning of the book was a little boring if I must say so myself. I found not much was happeneing even though it was quick paced it was just showing you alot about Jessica not being able to understand that she was not human. And her and Lucius just not getting on very well. But once the story got more in depth, I found by the middle I was so engrossed it only took me all night to finish this. I loved the changes between Lucius throughout the book. We didn't just get to see this nice, respectful side of him but we got to see this bad, nasty, dark side of Lucius which I was expecting. He was a great male character and the more bad he was the more that I liked it. Jessica was the same throughout the book with the exceptions of her growing to understand she was born to be a vampirie wether she liked it or not. I liked how she acted completley like a normal person to the meaning of being one. Because in some books they make the situation so fake like it would be okay for an normal person to know information like this. Where as it takes Jessica most of the book to fully get to grips with it. I loved her relationship with Lucius one minute their was pure hate and how they got to know each other better.

Fantastic book will be reading the next one. I would rate this book an A for its amazing twists and turns along away and for the way the characters were set out. My only bad point for this book was that the beginning was slow apart from that I loved this book!!
