Review: Lola And The Boy Next Door

Review: Lola And The Boy Next Door.
Genre: Young Adult/ Romance.

Author: Stephanie Perkins.

Summary: Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit -- more sparkly, more fun, more wild -- the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood. When Cricket -- a gifted inventor -- steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Review: So first of all this book was cute. I loved that it had a natrual flow to it and even though their was no major story line going on through the book I felt that this book was something that people could easily believe and relate too. You have the main character in the story Lola. (Young, creatful, unique and all about fashion and style) I really liked her character she was young and yet even though she was open minded and a strong girl, she made mistakes along the way like most people do. The plot was mainly about her living style and how it all changes when the boy next door Cricket moves back in. Now Cricket. Wow. If it wasn't for him I think this book would not have been so good. He is the perfect ideal boyfriend that I think anyone could have. Hes caring, kind and would basically do anything for Lola in this book. Its about her trying not to build up her feelings for him once again since she already has a boyfriend, who is to old for her and lives the rockstar lifestyle that she is not into. And along the way realising its okay to be different and to stand out from the crowd, thats what makes her Lola. You also have little storylines going on with her bilogical mother living with her and her two dads aswell, but thats not a major issue that the story hits on to much. As I say once again the plot wasnt very big in this story. But the romance was pretty good and it was an enjoyable read. There are also appreances from St Clair and Anna in this book, but not to worry if you havent read Anna and the french kiss because that dosent get in the way of this love story.

I would of rated this an A. Overall. A great teenage romance to read which would only take under a day to get finished.
